Volatile organic compounds
Emissions of volatile organic compounds are regulated under the 1999/13/EC Directive (amended from the 2004/42/EC Directive) that sets forth the limitations for both captured and untreated dispersions due to the use of large quantities of solvents in certain industries.
Companies that use halogenated volatile solvents as part of their operation should abide by the provisions set forth in the Directive on the limitation of emissions of halogenated volatile organic compounds from installations using organic solvents (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, Ur.l. RS., No. 71/11).
Companies operating in industries that exceed the allowed levels of volatile organic compounds, must operate in accordance with the Directive on the limitation of emissions of halogenated volatile organic compounds from installations using organic solvent (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, Ur.l. RS., No. 35/15).
(In 2004 the EU amended the limitations in the 2004/42/EC Directive on the limitation of emissions of volatile organic compounds due to the use of organic solvents in decorative paints and varnishes and vehicle refinishing products to reduce the emissions of volatile organic compounds.)
